What is Forest School?

Forest school practice has become one of the fastest growing movements in education in the UK.

The Forest School environment provided by Incredible Education is based on an adaptation to the Scandinavian approach to early years provision. The concept of being outdoors and close to nature and its many benefits to children’s development will be embraced throughout the many forest school activities and sessions.

The best thing about Forest School was building dens and seeing the money tree. I now think I am more confident and stronger!
— Sam (Age 9)

Incredible Education Forest School sessions are for groups of any age and ability, led by Level 3 qualified Forest School Leaders

Activities provide child-led experiences which support the development of self confidence, self esteem and self assurance. People learn best when they are emotionally content, in an environment that engages them.

All people should have the opportunity to understand and engage with nature, but more than that we believe that all children and young adults need to learn healthy approaches to risk and stress in order to enjoy good mental and emotional health in later life, and the outdoors is the ideal classroom for such experiences.

Our provision of Forest School activities has demonstrated success with children of all ages who visit the Forest Garden at Cleavley Community Forest Garden in Winton on a regular basis and, through play, learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks, and most importantly how to use their own initiative to solve problems, cooperate with others, and cope with challenge.

Since joining Forest School Jack has become much more involved in class activities and seems to have a happier disposition and is more positive and confident.
